Resort Report: Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort

Arizona Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort | Resort Report: Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort

Conveniently located in central Scottsdale,Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort is a luxury family-friendly resort with a beach sand swimming pool, 3-story water slide, rock climbing wall, complimentary bike rentals, tennis & pickleball courts, world-class golf, and plentiful amenities that the whole family will appreciate.

Because of its proximity to Tucson (a short 2-hour drive!), Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort is an ideal year-round staycation spot. The appeal is magnified in 2025 because the resort just completed a $115 million renovation and rebrand (the resort was previously Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch). Come along with us for a grand tour of Arizona's first Grand Hyatt resort.

ROOMS

Whether you are traveling solo, as a couple, with your kids, or part of a business group, there are a number of different guestroom, suite, and casita configurations to fit your needs.

All of the resort’s 496 guest rooms, suites, and casitas were updated in the recent renovation, which means that you'll experience refreshed decor, lighting, and amenities property-wide. Every guest room, regardless of room category, features a balcony or patio so that you can soak in the famous Arizona sunshine during your visit.

Casitas are an especially great option for traveling families. These spacious miniature "homes" are situated right on the water's edge and are equipped with full kitchens for your convenience.

For the ultimate luxury experience, you can book the 2,450-square-foot Gainey House.

SWIMMING

Hoping to spend some time poolside? Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort won't disappoint with ten different pools - including a beach sand swimming pool, a 3-story water slide, several swimming pools with volleyball nets, a jacuzzi, and a peaceful adults-only pool. Whether you're looking to splash with your kids or relax on a lounge chair in the sun with a good book, the expansive 2.5 acre swimming complex will rise to the occasion. Private cabanas are also available for rent.

FITNESS CENTER AND SPORTS COURTS

Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort is well-equipped to make your fitness goals a reality. In addition to an on-site fitness center and spa, the resort also features two tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, a rock-climbing wall ($), and three 9-hole golf courses ($) at Gainey Ranch Golf Club. Complimentary bike rentals are also available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are 6 adult-size bikes and 4 child-size bikes (1 is an extra small and has training wheels).

The lighted tennis courts and pickleball courts are open 7:00am-9:00pm daily. The courts are complimentary for guest use, but availability is limited so be sure to reserve a court before your stay as courts are typically booked 2 days out. Complimentary equipment can be checked out at the Concierge Desk. Contact the Front Desk to reserve a court at: 480-444-1234.

Throughout your stay, fun activities abound for families - including bike riding, gliding down the water slide, ping pong, playing yard games on the law, rock climbing, and swimming.

If your stay coincides with a holiday or weekend, it's possible that there may be a special activity calendar as well. Past activities have included Candy Buffet, Caricatures, Cotton Candy, Decorate Your Own Umbrella, Golf Ball Dive Challenge, Laser Tag, Magic Shows, Make Your Own Bubble Wand, Rockwall Races, Shaved Ice, Slide Races, Snakes and Lizards Show, and Water Balloon Tosses. GOOD TO KNOW

  • There is no kid's club at Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort, but this didn't bother us a bit! There was plenty to do for the whole family.
  • Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort also has a small covered playground - a fun space for energetic toddlers and preschoolers to play while their older siblings rock climb or play ping pong!
  • The waterslide is open from 11:00am to 5:00pm daily. Waterslide riders must meet the height requirement of 42 inches.
  • Mesa Centrale is the only dining outlet that has a children's menu. The teams at La Zozzona and Tiki Taka do their best to accommodate requests for kids. H2Oasis and Grand Vista Lounge do not have any kids' options as kids are not technically ‘allowed’ in those restaurants. At Sandbar, the concept behind the menu was to create ‘kid friendly’ options to choose from without calling them a kids menu so the whole menu is thoughtfully created with kids in mind.
  • When Mesa Centrale hosts buffets, kids 3 and under are complimentary. Dates are rotating and based on occupancy.
