This celebration honors Nandi and all elephants! Show your love for Nandi and her family by supporting elephant conservation, protected habitats, and saying no to ivory. Reid Park Zoo is a proud supporter of the Tanzania Conservation Research Program, which works to create habitat corridors for elephants in Africa. Party Like an Elephant: Get in the Mud and Wallow
Be prepared to get dirty! Elephants like Nandi use dirt and mud to protect their skin and know mud wallows are a fun way to beat the heat. In celebration of Nandi’s summer birthday, the zoo is setting up mud pits in the Event Garden from 9 to 11:30am to allow children and families time to literally get their hands (and more) dirty!
Bring a change of clothes, a towel, and a modest bathing suit and get ready to get muddy! A hose will be available to wash off afterward and there will be plenty of sunshine and warmth to drip dry when done.
All festivities are free with Zoo admission!
