Ward 6 Council Member Miranda Schubert and Tucson Parks and Recreation will celebrate the grand re-opening of Armory Park, 222 S. Fifth Ave., on Thursday, July 2, starting at 6:00pm with speeches, a ribbon cutting, and live performances by the Youth Mariachi Ensemble, DJ Q of Sonido Tambo, and Chicha Dust, alongside the El Ray Classic and Lowrider Car Show, Flam Chen stilt performers and a circus workshop, food trucks, yard games, and pay-what-you-wish Children's Museum Discovery Night admission (adults must be accompanied by a child). Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair. The $1.71 million renovation, funded through the Tucson Delivers Proposition 407 bond program, added a new pavilion, plaza/performance area, benches, picnic tables, a dog park, and lighting, plus restroom, irrigation, and sidewalk upgrades, shaped by community input.
