The classical virtues of – Truth, Beauty, and Goodness – have deep roots in the tradition of Western Civilization. In this talk, look at how they have been expressed in the Art of three especially relevant time periods. First, with art from Greek antiquity, when these classical virtues were first expressed by Plato and Aristotle. Second, with art from the Renaissance, when these classical virtues were rediscovered after nearly being lost during the Dark Ages of Europe following the collapse of the Roman empire. Finally, with an examination of how contemporary artists are renewing and reframing these classical virtues in their work.
