A Step Back into Tucson’s Past at Murphy-Wilmot Library

April 25, 2026 @ 10:15 am - 11:15 am

Free

Join retired teacher and history lover Yvonne Flores as she guides you through Tucson history!

Incorporating news stories, reminiscences, and photos, Yvonne will follow the history of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet as they arrived in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1836 to begin their first mission in the United States. Travel the Trek of the Seven Nuns from 1870 to the opening of St. Joseph’s Academy in Tucson to its closing in 1969. Learn what it was like to be a student at the all-girls school and meet some of the alumni who attended from 1955 to 1969 and who walked those hallow grounds, which is now the site of senior living community Atria Bell Court Gardens.
