Built in 2009 to honor fallen Tucson Police Department Officer Erik Hite, Erik Hite Family Park is located on the campus of Saguaro Canyon Church on the east side of Tucson and is open to the general public.
LOCATION: 10111 E. Old Spanish Trail, Tucson, AZ 85748
FEATURES: The park encompasses a playground, large grassy area, patio, and small amphitheater.
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT: The play structure includes multiple slides, climbing features, a steering wheel, swinging bars, and slide poles. A large shade sail covers the area and the surface beneath is rubberized mulch. Nearby is a sandpit with both standard and infant swing sets.
PICNIC AREA: Although there are no designated picnic structures, there are benches throughout the park and the grassy hill is suitable for a blanket-style picnic.
FACILITIES: Parking is convenient and plentiful. The church bathrooms, water fountains, and trash receptacles are available for public use.
MAINTENANCE: The park and surrounding landscaping are immaculately maintained. The metal and plastic playground equipment is in good repair.
EXTRAS: Erik Hite Park boasts gorgeous mountain views, a hospitable pastor, and handy proximity to the 5 mile Old Spanish Trail multi-use path.
