Choose a standard guest room, a 1-bedroom suite, or a 2-bedroom suite. The decor is southwestern, with sandy tones against white bedding and backdrops.

ON-SITE ACTIVITIES

The resort features a collection of outdoor water features and pools including the multi-level reflection pool overlooking the city lights and the Starr Canyon Lazy River where guests can meander in an inner tube and glide to their heart's content. The Monsoon Falls Waterslide offers lots of excitement for all ages (the 175 foot slide plunges into the 85 degree water below!). A separate adults only lap pool is also available for a daily fee or with a treatment purchase at Hashani Spa.

Hiking and biking are obvious recreational choices since Starr Pass is located right at the base of Tucson National Park. Complimentary, guided morning hikes are offered daily.

If you enjoy golf, The Club at Starr Pass offers two unique golf experiences - an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole course that offers a relaxing and all-encompassing golf experience - both designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer.

The full-service Hashani Spa offers an array of massage, body, and facial treatments for men and women, private pool, cabanas, and fitness center.

JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort also offers a complimentary guided morning hike, Native American morning ritual, and evening tequila toast.

KID-FRIENDLY

Kids, 15 years old and under, play golf for free after 3:00pm when accompanied by a full paying adult.

The lazy river and waterslide will likely account for hours of water play. Note that the waterslide has a 42" height requirement and tandem riding is prohibited. The waterslide is open daily from 7:00am-10:00pm.

JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort also has a small arcade - the Blu Arcade - which is open to children, teens, and families. The arcade games are available to play at an additional cost.

The children's menu (Family by JW) offers fun & innovative entree options (Chiquita Burrito and Churro Beignets), alongside classic favorites like French Toast Sticks, Pancakes, Cheeseburgers, and Mac & Cheese).

The breakfast buffet at Signature Grill, which is available every weekend, is a hit with young children (and absolutely everyone!) because they can enjoy everything from bacon and eggs and muffins to yogurt and fruit loops and smoked salmon. There's something for every palate!

WINTER WONDERLAND AT JWSP

WINTER WONDERLAND at JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa features a sleigh full of activities and experiences designed for locals, visitors, and resort guests alike to enjoy throughout the month of December.

Private Igloo Experience

Nestled under a canopy of twinkling lights and surrounded by festive décor, there are five private igloos – three on Meecha Lawn and two on Salud Patio, each with its own private chiminea or fire pit and plush, cozy blankets. Perfect for family gatherings, romantic evenings, or celebrating the season with friends.

S'mores Fire Pit Experience

Enjoy s’mores on the Plunge Patio and gather around the campfire to experience this mouthwatering holiday tradition. 

Whiskey Del Bac Polar Plunge Pop-Up Bar

Rooted in the Sonoran Desert and family-owned and operated in Tucson, Whiskey Del Bac is partnering with JW Marriott Starr Pass this holiday season to create a whiskey-inspired library room at the resort’s Plunge Bar.  Surrounded by whiskey barrels and ribbons, stockings hung above the mantle and the TV re-imagined into a fireplace, the bar will feature specialty whiskey flights, Sonoran-inspired Old Fashioneds, Manhattans, hot chocolate, and more. Santa plans on setting up a Del Bac retail shop for last minute logoed gifts, merchandise, glassware, and stocking stuffers created by local vendors and artisans.

Brunch with Santa at Passaggio

Celebrate with Santa on for a festive feast of traditional holiday favorites and brunch classics. Kids will enjoy holiday activities and photos with Santa while adults enjoy gourmet offerings and holiday libations.

Holiday Workshops at JW Market

‘Tis the season to be creative and decorate your favorite holiday ornaments, stockings, or cookies in the JW Marketplace on Fridays or Saturdays beginning in early December.

Giant Gingerbread House - Hot Cocoa & Cocktail Bar

The holidays aren’t complete without the sweet smells and aroma of freshly baked gingerbread. The resort’s talented team of pastry chefs have constructed a 16’ x 16’ x 10’ life size gingerbread house that will reside in the lobby during the holidays.

Elf Tuck-Ins

Resort guests can treat their children to a magical experience when one of Santa’s elves tuck them in with a cozy blanket and read their favorite bedtime story. Reservations required.

Story Time with Santa’s Elves

Kids will gather ‘round one of Santa’s elves in the resort lobby to listen to “how to catch an elf” and “how to catch a reindeer."

Holly Jolly Hideaway Suite – Celebrate the holidays in a 920 square foot Signature Suite that is fully decked-out with festive holiday décor including a decorated tree, garland, stockings, and cozy holiday décor from pillows and rugs to snow globes and twinkle lights. Package includes a holiday welcome amenity, special elf tuck-in for children, and complimentary self-parking per night.

Winter Wonderland Experience – Delight in the magic of the holidays during the Winter Wonderland extravaganza and enjoy an array of holiday festivities, décor, and joyful experiences that will delight all ages. The Winter Wonderland package includes $100 resort credit and complimentary self-parking per night.

What fun things are there to do near the resort?

JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort is semi-secluded. If you want to visit Tucson-area attractions, you're looking at a 15-35 minute drive.

If you do have the urge to see the sights, consider the following options.

DINING

There are several different dining options on-property at JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass.

Open for dinner, Passagio offers patio dining and features Italian specialties such as pizzas and pastas, along with hand-crafted cocktails and locally grown and organic ingredients, many from the restaurant’s garden.

Catalina BBQ Co & Sports Bar serves award-winning smoked meats and barbecue, and other Southwestern specialties for lunch and dinner.

JW Market is a vibrant market offering a selection of locally-inspired snacks and products from Tucson purveyors, as well as flatbreads, artisan breads, and sandwiches, plus wines and beers on tap.

Signature Grill offers a menu inspired by a trio of cultures, combining Native American, Mexican, and Cowboy influences. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with patio dining.

Salud is your casual bar stop for happy hour and the nightly tequila toast. Appetizers are available on the menu.

If you prefer to dine poolside, you can order salads, sandwiches, tacos, wraps, and cocktails at Plunge.

There is also a full-service, on-property Starbucks.

Great restaurant options to consider off property include: Agustin Kitchen (4.8 miles away), Maynards Market (5.9 miles away), and 47 Scott (6.2 miles away). Again, Starr Pass is in a very private location. Expect to drive 15-35 minutes to most area attractions and restaurants.

Can I host an event or have my wedding at JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass?

Yes! Starr Pass offers outdoor spaces as well as spacious ballroom options. The conference area includes 81,000 sq ft.

RATES & DEALS

What is the best month/season to visit?

Weather-wise, your best bet would be to enjoy the heavenly winter and spring months – November through mid-April.

That said, you can enjoy spectacular rates in the warmer months. Summer is the optimal time for a staycation if you are a local.
