World Desert Day at Reid Park Zoo

January 10, 2026 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free With Paid Admission

Join Reid Park Zoo to celebrate World Desert Day!

World Desert Day is a global celebration dedicated to raising awareness, inspiring action, and cultivating appreciation for the world’s desert ecosystems and the communities, plants, and wildlife that call them home.

What actually is a desert? Is it hot? Is it dry? Is it barren?

Learn what makes a desert a desert with activities, animal encounters, partner organizations like Tucson Clean and Beautiful and Xerces Society, and a Zoo-wide BioBlitz.

What is a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz is an event at which a group of volunteers get together to find and identify as many different native plants and animals as possible in a given area.

Activities will take place at the Zoo’s pollinator garden 10 am – 12 pm.

All ages and experience levels are welcome. Identification skills are not necessary.

This event is free with paid Zoo admission. Advance registration is not required.
