"Barnaby and the Butcher of Tucson, Arizona play the broad genres of Alt-Country and Americana. Their originals and covers run the gamut of classic country, dark country, blues, and rock; which they perform with a style evoking deep nostalgia while feeling entirely new. Since their last time on the Gaslight stage, they've added a second guitarist (previously on bass), a new bassist, and especially for the Gaslight audience, backup vocalist Robin Messing. Over the past year Barnaby and the Butcher traveled to Mississippi to record their third studio album, South of Memphis, released in January, under the production talents of Jimbo Mathus (band leader for Squirrel Nut Zippers); opened in both Tucson and Pheonix for Irish rock band The Young Dubliners, opened for Los Lobos on New Years Eve at the Fox Tucson Theatre, and recorded their fourth album at a private live event at Poe's Art House in downtown Tucson. Live at Poe's was released in June."
