For as long as people have been looking at the sky…eclipses have been objects of dread, curiosity, and wonder. Once the cyclical nature of eclipses was discovered, the ability to predict eclipses could be used as a marker of past events. More practical uses…the nature of the Sun’s atmosphere to be determined and the proof of Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity.
Prof. Iadevaia will examine and discuss the use of eclipses as useful tools to uncover nature’s secrets and what it is like to witness the awe inspiring total solar eclipse.
Presentation will run roughly 45 minutes with Q&A following. After the library closes, attendees are encouraged to join Prof. Iadevaia in front of the library to observe the moon!
