WE TRIED taking a hike at the Gabe Zimmerman Davidson Canyon Trailhead.
Formerly known as the Davidson Canyon trailhead, The Pima County Board of Supervisors renamed the trailhead for Gabe Zimmerman in February 2012 at the request of The Arizona Trail Association.
Zimmerman, a 30-year-old aide to U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, was killed along with five others in the Jan. 8, 2011 attack in Tucson that injured Giffords and a dozen others.
The trailhead is located on Marsh Station Road (north of Exit 281 on I-10), about ¼ mile west of Cienega Creek. It is a part of The Arizona Trail, an 800+ mile recreation trail that spans from Mexico to Utah.
The trail is an ideal spot for surrounding yourself with the stillness of the great outdoors, enjoying spectacular mountain views, and dipping your toes in the creek water.
