Northwest of Tucson in the Town of Oro Valley, Canada Del Oro Riverfront Park sits in the shadow of Pusch Ridge. The park’s playground is located just off the Lambert Lane three mile multi-use path.
LOCATION: CDO Riverfront Park, 551 W. Lambert Lane, Oro Valley
FEATURES: The playground consists of a large mulch area with two separate play structures covered by three large shade pavilions. The space is thoughtfully encircled by a concrete sidewalk convenient for mothers with strollers, and children on bikes or scooters. The two structures (one for older kids and one for tots) are joined by a rubberized walkway. Benches, trees, and open playing fields surround the area.
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT: The two playgrounds include five slides, a variety of arching climbing structures, monkey bars, slide poles, and a steering wheel. The smaller structure has a peering bubble, a slide, and a playhouse or theater section. There are infant swings nearby, but no standard swings on the premises.
PICNIC AREA: There are three large concrete ramadas close to the playground and countless other possible picnicking possibilities in benches, raised planters, and open grassy areas.
FACILITIES: Other than the current construction on Lambert Lane, the playground is easily accessible with plentiful parking. Public restrooms and water fountains are very close on-site. Trash receptacles are many and conveniently placed.
MAINTENANCE: This playground (and the entire park) are meticulously maintained. All of the equipment appears to be new and not in need of any repair. At the time of this visit, one of the shade sails had a puncture, but was fully functional. The landscaping and fields are manicured and the public restrooms are immaculate.
EXTRAS: This gem of a park boasts gorgeous Catalina mountain views, walking trails that meander down into the surrounding washes, and plenty of sports and entertaining venues. The park also borders a long multi-use path along Lambert Lane.
BOTTOMLINE: A lovely, spacious northwest side park with well-designed playground and activities for the entire family to enjoy.
