Do you have a child who attends a school that requires school uniforms? We've got the scoop on where to find uniform pieces around Tucson.
Here's the list - in alphabetical order.
A leading off-price apparel and home product retailer, Burlington offers name brand merchandise for up to 70% off department store prices...including school uniforms (Eddie Bauer, French Toast, and U.S. Polo Assn)! Note that the inventory is constantly changing and school uniforms are not always available.
GAP features a Uniform Shop w/ polos, button-ups, flat-front shorts, khakis, jumpers, skirts, and cardigans. At full price, the pieces can be spendy...but, when you hit a sale, stock up.
Children's retailer Gymboree offers playproof uniforms for ages 2-12, including some adorable accessories, coats, and shoes. Expect to pay $10-$30 per piece in peak season, with deals to be had after the school year has begun.
H&M offers trendsetting clothes at rock-bottom prices - including some pieces that will work for school uniforms (even if they aren't billed that way). You have to watch the website like a hawk because sale items sell out fast.
InJoy is a large thrift store in east Tucson near Broadway & Pantano. In addition to furniture, kitchenware, and decor, the secondhand store also has a children's clothing section. There are often uniform pieces on the racks!
JCPenney mostly sells the IZOD brand of school uniforms, available in sizes 2-20. You can also find the French Toast brand at Penney's.
You'll find the Chaps brand at Kohl's - a big box department store where the school uniform selection tends to be small. That being said, Kohl's has quite a loyal following and some shoppers love the "Kohl's cash" concept.
Established in 2012, Little Bird Nesting Co is a mid-town children's resale boutique where you can buy, sell, and trade clothes, toys, and gear for kids. Note that Little Bird specializes in infants, toddlers, and young children (clothes for preemies up to about age 8) so you won't find clothes for older kids and tweens/teens.
Known for having less expensive items than their sister-store GAP, Old Navy has school uniforms at some of the best prices in town. It's not uncommon to find polos for seven bucks; pants and dresses for ten to twenty.
Similar to Burlington, Ross is an off-price retailer - top brands for 20-60% off the department store prices. At both stores, you may have to scavenge through disorganized aisles and make your way through large crowds. Even so, there are definitely deals to be had for treasure-hunters. Online shopping is not currently available.
Located in northwest Tucson, Sweet Repeats is an adorable and well-kept resale boutique where you can buy, sell, and trade clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, and books for preemies up to size 12.
Target has everything, right? Including school uniform pieces starting at $4 a pop! Target's own proprietary brands include All In Motion, Art Class, and Cat & Jack, but they also sell school uniforms by French Toast and Lands' End. You can shop online and get free store pickup to streamline your shopping experience.
The Children's Place bills itself as being "the place for uniforms and backpacks." You'll find shirts, skirts, shorts, pants, polos, and accessories galore. Bonus - toddler sizes are also available! Sign up for the free My Place Rewards program to earn points toward gift certificates.
